Atlanta’s head start kept Baltimore chasing
The Falcons did not need a long offensive march to seize the early advantage. Tyler Loop opened the scoring with a 21-yard field goal at 10:27 of the first quarter, but Jessie Bates III answered with the game’s biggest non-offensive play, returning a fumble 36 yards for a touchdown at 8:03. That swing put Atlanta ahead 7-3 and gave the home side a lead it protected for most of the night.
Baltimore stayed within reach because Loop was flawless from distance. He drilled a 51-yarder with 8:04 left in the second quarter, watched Michael Penix Jr. find Kyle Pitts Sr. for a 5-yard touchdown pass at 2:24, then hit from 51 again as the first half expired. Instead of a two-score hole, the Ravens went to the break down 14-9.
Atlanta seemed to be building the separation it needed after halftime. Nick Folk connected from 23 yards at 9:51 of the third quarter, then from 34 and 48 in the fourth, stretching the margin to 23-15 with 2:31 remaining. The problem for the Falcons was that those drives kept ending in three points. They finished 1-for-3 in the red zone and scored only one offensive touchdown despite getting productive nights from Penix, Pitts and Drake London.
Huntley and the running game kept finding an answer
Baltimore’s comeback worked because Huntley gave the offence both efficiency and variety. He completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, then added the winning score on the ground. His first touchdown throw, an 18-yarder to Derrick Henry with 6:53 left in the third quarter, cut Atlanta’s lead to 17-15 even though the two-point pass failed.
The Ravens never abandoned the run, and Atlanta never fully solved it. Henry carried 24 times for 102 yards, Justice Hill ripped off 73 yards on only four attempts, and Baltimore finished with 208 rushing yards at 5.9 per carry. That balance mattered late. After Folk’s third field goal made it an eight-point game, Huntley brought Baltimore level with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Devontez Walker at the 0:40 mark of the fourth quarter, then Henry powered in the two-point conversion to tie it 23-23.
Baltimore’s skill players filled in the rest. Rashod Bateman led the receivers with 62 yards on five catches, Zay Flowers added eight receptions for 53 yards, and Henry’s touchdown catch gave the Ravens a scoring answer from a different spot on the field. The offence converted 8 of 15 third downs, scored on three of four red-zone trips and generated 391 total yards across 71 plays. When overtime arrived, Baltimore had already shown it could keep leaning on the same formula.
Our take
This result turned on finish more than flash. Atlanta actually produced its own explosive contributions — London went for 118 yards, Jahan Dotson averaged 27.0 yards on two catches, and Bijan Robinson ran for 86 yards at 5.1 a carry — but too many promising possessions stalled. Three Folk field goals in the second half kept points coming, yet they also left the door open for a team that was running the ball much better.
Baltimore, by contrast, paired patience with cleaner execution. The Ravens lost a fumble that became seven points the other way, but they did not compound the mistake. Huntley protected the ball, the rushing attack stayed productive, and Baltimore made the red-zone edge count. A team that scores touchdowns on three of four red-zone chances usually gives itself a real chance in a one-score game, and that is exactly what happened here.
The Falcons can point to plenty that worked, especially through Penix and London, but the stat line also shows where the night slipped. Atlanta managed only three rushing first downs, committed seven penalties for 67 yards and finished with just one offensive touchdown. Against a Baltimore offence that kept creating manageable situations, that profile was always going to be difficult to sustain. Once Huntley tied the game in the final minute, the balance of the night had already changed — and his 1-yard keeper in overtime settled the rest.
