Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell has delivered a prolific scoring stretch as the WNBA regular season approaches its finish. Her production provides a contrast with the two-way influence of Las Vegas Aces centre A’ja Wilson and the playmaking responsibilities carried by Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles.

Figures published by the WNBA on September 17 put Mitchell’s August averages at 28.9 points, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals. Indiana went 7–4 during the month. The league also listed her season scoring total at 1,001 points.

The WNBA listed Wilson at 26 points and two blocks per game. Scoring and rim protection give her influence at both ends of the court for Las Vegas.

For Minnesota, the league credited Miles with team-leading averages of 19.7 points and six assists. Her responsibilities included directing the team while Napheesa Collier was sidelined by injury.

Those figures describe three distinct contributions: Mitchell’s scoring output, Wilson’s offence and defence, and Miles’ playmaking as a rookie. They are part of the MVP discussion, rather than an announcement of voting results.
