Image accompanying the official MLS announcement.Julian Hall scored the winning goal as Red Bull New York beat New York City FC 1-0 in the Hudson River Derby on Friday at Yankee Stadium. The result gave Red Bull New York its first Hudson River Derby win since the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs presented by Audi and moved the club into eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Hall scored in the 57th minute against NYCFC goalkeeper Matt Freese after Freese was credited with an errant back pass. The goal was Hall’s 10th of the season, according to the league, making him the second-youngest player to reach 10 goals in a single MLS season. The derby came right after a major national-team development. On Thursday, the 18-year-old learned he would represent the U.S. men’s national team for the first time in the September/October four-match international window. U.S. national team coach Michael Bradley was cited describing Hall’s execution, saying, “There was a lot of hustle there from him to get to that goal and also work around the goalkeeper,” and adding that the play forced a mistake before Hall scored. The September/October window includes matches versus Chile, Peru, Mexico and Canada. Adri Mehmeti was also referenced as preparing for his first U.S. national team opportunities.
