Cavan Sullivan added to USMNT roster as Philadelphia Union continue unbeaten run
Image accompanying the official MLS announcement.Philadelphia Union homegrown Cavan Sullivan has received his first call-up to the U.S. men’s national team. The 16-year-old is expected to join Union teammates Neil Pierre and Frankie Westfield during the expanded September/October international window.
The U.S. schedule for that window includes matches against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada. The call-up comes early in a new cycle under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who has selected 12 MLS players.
Sullivan’s national-team call follows another standout MLS performance. He scored in Philadelphia’s 4-3 comeback win over Sporting Kansas City, a result that extended the Union’s unbeaten run to 11 matches since league play resumed after the 2026 FIFA World Cup pause.
He finished with 1 goal and 1 assist in Kansas City, bringing his regular-season total to 19 goal contributions, with 7 goals and 12 assists. With his assist on Bruno Damiani’s goal, Sullivan set the MLS single-season teenage assists record with 12.
Sullivan has also joined company that includes Vancouver Whitecaps FC homegrown Alphonso Davies in teenage goal-contribution marks, carrying that form into his first senior national-team camp.
