Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck did not report to training camp Wednesday and was suspended by the team, according to NHL.com.

In a statement released by his agent, Ray Petkau, Hellebuyck said, “With training camp approaching, I felt it was important to publicly confirm my request. My position has not changed.” He added that he believes “moving on is the best path forward for me and my family.”

Jets captain Adam Lowry told NHL.com on Sept. 8 that the club cannot spend time focused on Hellebuyck’s situation and instead must prepare for the season. Lowry also said that, while Hellebuyck remains a Jets player, the team will treat the situation as such and focus on readiness for camp.

NHL.com said the Jets missed the postseason in 2025-26. Hellebuyck is entering the third season of a seven-year, $59.5 million contract signed Oct. 9, 2023. He is a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, in 2019-20, 2023-24 and 2024-25, and previously helped the United States win gold at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.
