After the Whistle
Atlanta spent most of the night in front, then turned a one-possession scare into a runaway finish. Jordin Canada’s playmaking and shotmaking, backed by Allisha Gray’s 22 points, drove the Dream past the Washington Mystics 93-75 on Tuesday at CareFirst Arena.
Read the report ↗Atlanta spent the first half chasing the game and the second half pulling it apart. Behind 26 points from Rhyne Howard and a decisive third-quarter surge, the Dream turned a five-point halftime deficit into a 92-77 victory over the Washington Mystics on Sunday at State Farm Arena.
Read the report ↗Washington spent most of Thursday night building a lead that looked safe, then had to prove it was sturdy. Behind Sonia Citron’s near-flawless scoring and Kiki Iriafen’s relentless rebounding, the Mystics did enough early and enough late to beat the Chicago Sky 101-93 at Capital One Arena.
Read the report ↗Washington did not shoot much better than Connecticut on Tuesday night. It just solved the arithmetic better. At CareFirst Arena, the Mystics turned free throws, timely third-quarter answers and a controlled final period into a 79-69 WNBA win over the Sun.
Read the report ↗The Washington Mystics did not need a miracle shooting night to beat the Indiana Fever on Sunday. They needed only to keep doing what they did from the opening minutes: move the ball, score inside, and make Indiana chase a game that never really turned.
Read the report ↗The Washington Mystics did not need a single takeover act at Wintrust Arena. They beat the Chicago Sky 110-80 by making the game simple and relentless: finish inside, move the ball, protect possessions, and keep adding answers every time Chicago threatened to settle in.
